David Gonzales, MS, Public Health Director, Victoria County Health Department holds a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University.

Beginning in 2004, David served as Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at the Victoria Public Health Department, and then the Trauma Service Area – S Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) Coordinator for the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC). As TSA-S HPP Coordinator, David directed regional emergency preparedness and response activities for the 10 hospitals in the Golden Crescent Region.

David then joined the team at Victoria Office of Emergency Management as the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Victoria County in 2015.   In April of 2019, David accepted the position as Director of the Victoria County Public Health Department (VCPHD) where he led the team through the COVID-19 pandemic response conducting thousands of case investigations, educating and updating the public on the ever-changing situation, and overseeing the administration of approximately 50,000 COVID vaccines with the help of numerous community partners and agencies. Currently, he oversees the daily operations and activities of approximately 20 state and federal grants and 10 divisions focusing on providing essential public health services to his community.
