Adrienne Sturrup, Director, Austin Public Health - Adrienne joined Austin Public Health in 2014 as a Program Manager of the African American Quality of Life Unit (AAQL), overseeing community-based interventions to reduce health disparities. She was promoted to Assistant Director of Health Equity and Community Engagement in 2018 and continued to lead from a place rooted in equity. Since becoming Director in 2022, she has continued leading the department in developing programs and services that support equitable quality-of-life outcomes for all, including implementing the Equity Academy and seeking funding that supports expanded infrastructure and service capacity.
Before working for the City of Austin, Adrienne served as an Executive Director in the YMCA system for 11 years, leading branches in Boston, Massachusetts, Cranston, Rhode Island, and Austin, Texas. Her work within the YMCA system focused on branches in underserved communities.
Adrienne holds a bachelor's in communication from Boston University and is pursuing a master’s in public administration.
