Kenneth Coleman, Sr.

Kenneth Coleman is the Health Director of the Beaumont Public Health Department.  He is in charge of preparedness and surveillance for diseases, immunizations, communicable disease prevention, Women, Infants, and Children’s programs, vital statistics, Environmental health and food safety, and spread our health messages through our Health promotion program at the Beaumont Public Health department.  Kenneth works tirelessly with the city council members and officials to ensure that Beaumont is a healthy place to live, work, and play.  His care for the community does not end in the office as he is a husband, deacon, mentor, and a pretty good basketball player.  

Kenneth Coleman was taught to work hard and be involved in the community at an early age.  His parents, Freddie and Joyce Coleman always pushed for academic excellence despite all 6 of their children being athletically gifted.  Kenneth is a graduate of Beaumont Pollard high school in the year of 1982.  He then went on to pursue higher education. Kenneth’s good grades got him accepted into Jarvis Christian College where he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1986.  Kenneth returned to Beaumont with a desire to serve the community.  The opportunity presented itself to be the HIV minority educator for the Beaumont Public Health department.  While serving the citizens of Beaumont, Kenneth worked tirelessly on his own time to help improve other departments in Public Health. His hard work and professional ethics in serving the Beaumont community earned him the title of Health Director of Beaumont in 2021.   Kenneth has served the Beaumont community in Public Health for 31 years.

Behind every great man, there is a great woman.  Kenneth met Natosha in 2003 in the church.  Natosha was also working her way through management at HEB to become the store manager of the best HEB in Beaumont.  The power couple has been married for 19 amazing years.  Together they have two children, Summer who also works to serve the community of Beaumont, and Kenneth Jr., who is an undergraduate at Houston Baptist to become a doctor.  Kenneth is also the proud grandfather of Jace.     

Kenneth not only works to serve the community of Beaumont in a health capacity, but he also works for the spiritual and educational enrichment of our city.  Kenneth works as chairman of the board of deacons at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and teaches Sunday school.  He is a valued member of the NAACP and 100 Black Men.  Kenneth helps to mentor young men and women to realize their potential in themselves to rise above their surroundings while not forgetting where they come from.  He is also very personable.  Kenneth has never met a stranger and will give sound advice to anyone willing to listen and learn from his life experiences.
